Biography

Edward “Ted” Staples serves as Senior Vice President at Van Liew Trust Company, where he works closely with clients in the management of trusts, estates, and retirement accounts. With more than 20 years at the firm, he brings extensive experience in trust and investment management and a highly personalized approach to client relationships.

Experience & Background

Ted has built a long career in banking, trust services, and investment management. Prior to joining Van Liew Trust Company, he held positions at Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, BankBoston, Fleet National Bank, and Bank of America. Earlier in his career, he also worked with Hilton Hotels, Killington Resort, and as a Certified EPSIA ski instructor.

At Van Liew Trust, Ted serves as Chair of the Trust Committee and works closely with individuals and families to help coordinate portfolio, tax, and trust strategies alongside their advisors.

Ted emphasizes a steady, individualized, and relationship-focused approach, helping clients navigate long-term financial decisions with thoughtful guidance and disciplined management. He believes in tailoring strategies to each client’s personal goals while maintaining close coordination with trusted advisors and family relationships.
