| Van Liew's Investment Approach |
| |
is based upon the concept that a properly diversified bond portfolio is key to limiting a client's overall risk exposure, generating a predictable income stream and preserving capital.
|
| Investment Strategy |
| |
is guided by the Fixed Income Policy Committee. The Committee reviews interest rate trends and the yield curve environment to provide a "top-down" analysis of the fixed income universe for our investment managers. We work to maximize returns and minimize risk by creating a fixed income portfolio that can achieve a balance between modest capital appreciation, preservation of principal and generation of a high and predictable stream of income.

| Our Fixed Income Universe |
| |
is chosen on the basis of credit risk (investment grade or better), yield spreads versus benchmarks, appropriate maturity structure and duration parameters, individual liquidity, tax and cash flow requirements.
|
| Our Investment Style |
| |
is active. Although, we believe that the fixed income component's primary purpose is to preserve principal and generate a high and predictable stream of income, we look to exploit appreciation opportunities through changing maturities and durations, shifting sectors and adjusting credit quality. Portfolios are diversified across industries and sectors. For our clients, we work to construct fixed income portfolios of a suitable average maturity and a cost less than face value. With investors for whom tax considerations are of primary importance we work to structure portfolios utilizing municipal bonds that capture 85% or better of the current yield curve. |
